Hey everyone!
Thanks for all your good wishes! I had a great time at the race and now declare myself offically graduated from the c25K!!
I finished in a little less than 41 minutes. I guess the official times will be reported sometime soon. There was a great crowd and I really did not feel like I ran a whole lot or got too tired at all! Different people running or walking around me, people with strollers and wheelchairs and dogs or power-walkers walking faster than I can run, totally kept me occupied the whole time!! Haha
Was great fun. Very nice crowd, loads of cheers, felt really really good. After the race, a shower, stretching and a huge breakfast, we went sight-seeing around the area. After last week's travel, tons of work and haywire hectic schedule (barely ran twice on a treadmill) I was glad to manage the run in 41 minutes. Next I am going to pick a race somewhere nearby and aim to reduce my 5K time to 35 or 30 minutes!
Nice job with the weight loss Fred! And looks like you are already a one hour runner!!
Your 5K is coming up soon isn't it. All this running should make that seem really short and also help you speed up for it, I imagine!
Mango.. I agree that skipping ahead a little on the One Hour Runner should be ok. Just be cautious about not increasing total distance per week by more than 10% (which I read is a general rule of thumb to follow for injury free running.) I think you have pretty decent running-judgement by now already, whatever you feel you are up for must be ok. Good idea re-starting yoga!
By the way, if you don't mind my asking (curiosity!), what was the verdict on the knee? What did u sprain/pull on it? and what did the doc suggest to fix it?
BSQ, hope you are doing better and will get back to running tomorrow. Let us know how it goes and also which program you choose!
sdcathey.. I agree with Mango.. most of us here did the couch to 5K (c25k) program on cool running. We thought it was great to get us up and running. I think the next most useful thing was this virtual running group. We report back on progress regularly. Keeps us accountable and on the go! Other than that I would suggest getting good running shoes fitted for yourself by people at your local running store (who do gait analysis etc) to make sure you don't have any issues with leg problems creeping up as you progress in the runs!
Happy running everyone!
