Re: TIME4CHANGE

Hey Cindy, WOW, running two Half Marathons, that is impressive!! I am poud of u!!!! Thanks for the headphone ifo, my new pair are so painful, don't stay in my ears well & can't hear the music well. I would like to take them back, but they were only $10 & I don't have enuff money to get a new pair before the 5k this Sat. I saw some called Marshmellows, or something like that, But I am worried they will hurt & they cost more.

I ran Sat & again today. I forgot to start my stopwatch today until I had run a mile, but after my run I think I did the math correctly, I ran 3.1 miles in 34 minutes. I hope I can do that for my 5k on Sat or better. My 1st 5k was 40 minutes! I plan to run Tue, Wed & Thur to work on my speed & take off Fri. I am only running about a 5k each time so I think it will be ok. I am so excited about this 5k. It is in my town, benefits my kids school, am running with my firend Laura & will probably see alot of town people I know. The kids are excited about coming too & Ed said he would come as well & take some pictures! Maybe I could even place for my age group, I think it is 45 to 49. Anyway, I am so EXCITED!!!

Happy running to all of you!! Carole

Re: TIME4CHANGE

Hey Everyone, how is the running going?? It has been a drastic cutback of people posting on here! Remember when we were all supportive to each other?? So come on & start posting your runs, both good & bad!!! I MISS U ALL!!!

Well I keep having problems posting on here, I type my post & then it says I gotta sign on again & go back thru it again & then have to keep hitting back arrows again to get back to what I have written & hit the post button again & most of the time what I have written like just a few minutes ago is gone!!! SO then I gotta start over again!!! Sux!!

Anyway, today was my last practice run before the 5k on Sat. I wish my bday was on the 19th instead of the 21st cuz it would be a cool bday present if I did well!!! I ran 3.13 miles in 33.58 minutes, was hoping to trim a little more time off but I did the best I could. The 1st 2 miles were pretty good but the 3rd was murder, my tummy hurt. Ed tried to splice my old headset & new one together last nite cuz I like my old one & the new one works but hurts so now they are both broke!!! So I had to run with one of those old style headsets that cover  your ears & it was hot & uncomfortable. My neighbor is working  on it now, I trust him to fix stuff more than Ed!!!

I am excited & nervouse about this 5k. I am glad that Ed & the girls are coming & a few friends said they would come too, last one only Ed & the kids came & G threw a fit at the end & we had to leave fast. This time it is in my little town & I am gonna hang around for the results & stay for any drawings. I have only run that one race & am not used to running with other people so I am nervous about that, but I get to run with Laura & as I said before I think she will keep me motivated to run faster!!!

This will be my last race for a while due to funds. I lost both babysitting jobs due to problems with the people not getting the extra hours they wanted & one friends little girl did not get into the head start preschool program & Ed was demoted due to cutbacks in the company. So if I thought things were tuff before I am gonna out of my mind stressed now!!! So this race will be special & I am gonna really enjoy it!!!!!

Happy Running, Carole

Re: TIME4CHANGE

Carole, good luck on your Saturday 5k, you'll do fantastic!!  Hopefully you'll get your headset fixed, I know how frustrating it is when they don't work, or they won't stay in your ear!

I haven't been posting much anywhere, since my computer at home took a major dive, I brought it into work today so our IT guy could take a look at it.  I think he's going to give it it's final rites, and I may drop it off with the Geek Squad and see what they say.  I hate to pay to have them tell me it's completely shot.  So, I can only post from work, and it's been majorly busy here which doesn't give me much time for posting.

I also have a 5K on Saturday, one next Sunday, and one the following Saturday.  I've been doing about 4 miles when I go out to run, which is now after work, and in the mornings on weekends.  I got my jazzercise schedule changed so that I have every other day off and that when I run.  My time for my runs isn't improving much, but I keep telling myself that I'm not trying to break any speed records, just trying to work on my endurance.

so....happy running, and I'll try to find time to post more!!  And happy birthday Carole!!

Carol

Re: TIME4CHANGE

WOW Carol, 3 5k's in a row!! You are a super woman!!! Wish I could run them with u!!!!! Sorry about your computer, but it gives u an excuse to get a nice new one if u got the money!!! Mine is old & I pray it holds out!!!

Thanks for the good wishes on the run, I am really excited. Even though I had a big fight with one of my sisters cuz they are not telling me when my dad goes in the hospital. He is in there now due to the surgery he had, there was some infection. She says if I called them more I would know this stuff, I told her that they don't seem to like talking to me on the phone, so I email instead, since every time we talk on the phone we end up in a fight, and we did this time as well. I wish I had never added them to facebook. But I did call the hospital & found a nurse that was really nice & said I could call her to see how he is doing. Now I just need to find someone at the nursing home that won't be influenced by my sisters, they like to make things extremely hard for me when it comes to my dad. I lived near my parents for the past 30 years, this has been the 1st year without him & they seem to take pleasure in knowing I am miserable without him. I can't type this on facebook cuz they will read it & make things harder. But one day I will be rid of them & until then I am gonna try to not let them make me miserable!!!

Well, I had to get that out. Strangers & friends have been kindedr to me over the years than my own sisters have. Sad isn't it? I told my girls to always be there for each other. It use to be that way for me & my middle sister, but then my oildest sister decided to put an end to that. They had not spoken to each other for YEARS, and I talked to bothe of them & always tried to get them to make up, well it finally worked, but now they do not wish to talk to me. funny how stuff works out, so when my mom died I lost her, then my Dad and now both of them. It makes me truly appreciate the friends that have stuck with me over the years, the new & the old.

have fun running, sorry I got all serius, it is front & center on my mind, but I am gonna kick *** on that race!!!!

Re: TIME4CHANGE

Hi guys. Sorry I haven't posted in a while but it's so easy to keep up with you guys on Facebook, and seems like less effort for some reason.   In fact if I get a chance this weekend I'm going to figure out how to create us a group on facebook.  I'll keep you posted.  If I create one, would you guys want to use that rather than this?  I get quite annoyed at this sometimes.  And we have whittled down to just a few of us left, and I think we all are friends on facebook already anyways.

Carol - good luck with your 5k tomorrow - I know you'll rock it!  Let us know how you did.

Carole - counting down the days to Phoenix!  I am also going to re-energize on the shirt idea too.  I'll be in touch on that!

Will - I walked for years and years before I started running in March, and I only started running because I needed something new to motivate me.  Walking is such a great exercise and not as tough on our bodies as running, and when you think about it, the difference in the time it takes to cover a distance is not that great between the two (at least for me)!  I walk about a 15 minute mile and run about 12.5.  So if I walk four miles it takes me an hour, and if I run four miles it takes me 50 minutes, plus 5 minutes walking before and after (warmup and cooldown), so I have still invested an hour!  Keep on walking and keep in touch with us via facebook!  I love to look at all those great pictures of food you post!     "Big move" doesn't translate to coming back to the states by any chance, does it?

As for me, I'm doing fine - I run twice a week for about 50 minutes (including warmup and cooldown, plus I have gone to run/walk intervals - 9/1, 8/2, or 7/3, depending on how I feel that day).  On the weekend I do a "long" run - last week I went seven miles.  I did 7/3 intervals for the first hour, then switched to 5/5 for the rest of it.  It took just over an hour and a half.  Oh, also - I don't know if anyone has tried electrolyte "snacks", but I took a package of Clif "Shot Bloks" with me, and after about 20 minutes, I ate one of those every so often.  I could feel a postive difference in my energy level and I finished strong.   So I'm on my way to getting ready for the half marathon!

Hope everyone has a great weekend and I'll let you know if I'm smart enough to create a group on facebook! ?:|    -    CW
