Anyone interested in new 5K group?

I am just looking to see if there were a few people out there who would like to start couch to 5k with me. I have started the program before with a friend but after she gave up I also did. I want to follow the program, at least running 3 times a week. If anyone else is interested please let me know. We can help support each other!!! Thanks!!!

Count me in!  A friend and I decided that we would start training together for our first 5K.  We will welcome all of the motivation/tips etc. that we can get.  We're hoping to run our first 5k in August, so today is day 1 for both of us.

Re: Anyone interested in new 5K group?

MMB that is amazing time! I hope to just complete my first 5k under 40 minutes seriously haha!

Week 1 went well! Def a few hard moments but I also made sure to walk on the off days which really seemed to help me out! I am using a treadmill for now though until I get my own zune with arm band then I will try and move it outside which I know will def be more of a challenge for me! I am still under 2 miles in the 30 mins for now so it is fun to see me getting a bit farther (according to treadmill) in same amount of time each walk/jog. I will do first day of week 2 tomorrow (Tuesday).

Oh and I am Steph age 31, mom to one 7 year old girl and I live in Michigan

Re: Anyone interested in new 5K group?

Hello all,     I just bought my running shoes on Friday and did W1D1 today!   I would very much like to participate in a group for support.

I am a a mid-age male who has not exercised in 10 years.   I used to be a competitive runner in high school and college, but in my early 20s I sustained horrible shin splints and never really recovered.  25 years later I am hoping that new shoes and technology will allow me to start  running again.  I travel quite a bit for my job and running is the ultimate portable exercise.

Since May 1, I started walking in the morning for reflection, prayer and exercise.   Last week, I had the urge to do a little jogging during the walk.  I have lost 15 lbs in the last 6 weeks and would like to keep it going to lose 20 more.    I did start the interval work on my own last week, but found the c25k during a websearch for a formal program.   I just hope it is not too aggressive for someone at my weight/height  225/6"1' age, and fitness level.

Congratulations to all who are motivated to make positive changes in their life.

Re: Anyone interested in new 5K group?

Me! Me!  Can I join as well?

I've tried the C25K in the past but I never made it beyond (an extended!) week two.  Lol.  A little on me ... 32 years old, from NY.  Used to be overweight, well, morbidly obese - weighed 245 pounds.  I lost over 100 pounds through good old fashioned diet and exercise, and been in maintenance for over 5 years now.

I go to the gym, weights, kickboxing, yoga, pilates, and hike to keep healthy.  But, I.  Can.  Not.  Run.

If some people just have a running ability deficiency, that is ME!  Tonight I did W1D1 again, and this time I think what will make me get through this is the PODCAST!  I love it!  It is so terrific.  However, I felt like someone needed to peel me off of the pavement after the very first run!  (It did get better, a little!)  After the 6th run, he said we should be feeling the run, a little tired, but not out of breath.  I was huffing and puffing after the first run!  But I can fly through any hour long cardio class, weird!

Anyway, enough yapping.  I would love to join you guys if you will have me!

Kelly

Re: Anyone interested in new 5K group?

Hi Folks. Count me in as well.  I've been "off the couch" since mid-April running a half-mile to a mile every day but having a hard time getting any further from that.  I'm going to hook into the C25k plan tomorrow in the middle of week 3 or 4 because I want to run a 5k on August 1st.

I'm 39, ran track in high school, and need to lose at least 20 pound (I'm 5'8" and weigh in the 195-200 range) and hopefully more after that.

Good luck everyone.
