YAHOO! I just signed up for my 1st Ironman in 2010 at Coeur d'Alene Idaho!
I've been working towards this goal for the last 4.5 years and I CAN'T WAIT!
So...any advice is greatly appreciated and I'm ready to listen!
YAHOO!!!!
very cool! Iron virign here so no real advice yet. do you have a training plan?
goals for 2011:
break 19minutes for 5k
break 2:42 for olympic triathlon probably Anthracite olympic
break 3:16 for marathon ( a long shot but it's fun putting yourself out there)
Welllllll, not yet. I'm concentrating on getting ready for a Half Ironman and then later this fall trying to qualify for Boston so I kind of figured I wouldn't actually start training until the 1st of the year. Now that doesn't mean I'm sitting on the couch eating BonBons, but I think I'm going to need some downtime in the late fall and early winter to prepare for the 6 to 7 months of training. But as far as a honest to goodness plan, no I don't have one yet. I have a few books that have plans in them but to be honest sometimes I just don't get them because of all their shortcut terms. I sometimes don't like to read a book from cover to cover and I just jump to the "good" part, but I guess I'm going to have to spend some quality time reading one or both of them very soon.
Do you have a plan that you're going to use?
I am following Don fink's book be ironfit 30 week just finish plan- no grand goals just survive and not get divorced. good luck at the Half IM and BQ

HA! Yes, preventing a divorce is a good goal! Thanks and good luck to you!
Cool! My husband finished his 2nd IM there this year. We drove out with the kids, 4,000+miles, and it was awesome.
You can read his first segment of his race report here. http://ironmakeover.blogspot.com/2009/06/race-report-ironman-coeur-d-alene-june.html
I hope to hear more about your training as the months go by. Best to you!
