Re: ~~~ CALLING ALL WITNESSES - WEEK 7 IS HERE~~~~~

Hello Team!

I did W6D1 on Tuesday.  I struggled a bit, but I think that's because I was running at a faster pace than usual.  Will do W6D2 tomorrow AM.

Gizo~How cool that you got to run at Lake Tahoe!  I just moved back to the east after living in Las Vegas for 4 years, and regret not having a chance to get up there (it's a 9 hour car ride from Vegas).  I'm right with you on doing the "street loop"...if I run in the evening, then I do a "loop" back and forth on the road.  It's the end of a country road, so no one really to worry about what that crazy woman (me) is doing.

Carly~I hope your internet gets fixed soon!  Thanks for the birthday wishes.

Waltz~Keep it up, you're doing great!  You've got a lot going on now.

Unfitbit~CONGRATS on your 5K!!!!!

Keep up the great job everyone!

Back from vaca, and excited to read all of your posts!  Everyone's sure doing a great job!

My sister and I ran on vaca, so I've now completed Week 7.  Can't believe it!  On W7D2 we ran on a high school track which was neat.  I timed my first mile --- just over 13 mins.  I was pleased with that.  I don't really care about time yet, but it was interesting to know.  Got a horrible side stich that day and had to put a couple mins walking in the middle of the 25 min run, but worked out okay.  Not going to beat myself up over it... had to listen to my body!  Today the 25 mins was fine.  Even took off in a fast run uphill for the last 30 seconds!  Just had to try it when I saw the hill.   WAY proud of myself and my sis (aka. mfssl) for running while on the family vaca.  Would have NEVER done that before this program!

Keep up the good work!  Happy running!

Re: ~~~ CALLING ALL WITNESSES - WEEK 7 IS HERE~~~~~

W7D2 done last night.  I even kept up with my 19 yr old cross country running track star cousin! Of course, i'm sure she was running at like half  her normal speed but she encouraged me to run an extra 2 minutes so I did 27 minutes and still felt like I coulda ran further, which is good b/c I'm doing my first 5k tomrrow! Wish me luck!  I'm not planning on running fast, but I'd like to actually RUN the whole thing...even if it's at turtle speed! I figured that I probably did around 2.7 miles last night so I should be able to suck it up for another 1/2 mile right?   I'll let you guys know how it goes!  Keep up the good work!

Where's Blue?  We haven't seen her on her in ages!

Re: ~~~ CALLING ALL WITNESSES - WEEK 7 IS HERE~~~~~

Had my first really, crappy run last night!  W7D3 completed.  I did them all this week in a row with no rest.  I think that led to my overall, why in the world am I doing this to myself?!  Plus, I think running the 3 miles the night before did not help.  I'm resting the next two days and starting W8 on Sunday.

meryl and mfssl---Good job staying with the program while on vacation!  It's certainly easier to skip than do it!

hadababyitsaboy---Good luck tomorrow!  I find runners as an overall group to be very supportive and encouraging!  Have a great day! Be sure to let us know how it goes.

obxgrl---I wanted to write that I have been enjoying the cooler weather too!!!!  I left a weekend trip on Sunday to find out that I had food poisoning.  The cooler weather sure made running easier on me.  I am really looking forward to running in the fall!  I'm not wishing summer away, though!  Winter was awful last year.....

Re: ~~~ CALLING ALL WITNESSES - WEEK 7 IS HERE~~~~~

Hey guys!  Just got in from W7D1, and my internet is fixed, YAY!!  Today's run started out AMAZING, I was running faster than I've been and I felt great, like I could run for hours.  Then, as I mentioned earlier I have gallstones, and about half way through the run, my right side started KILLLLING me!!  So, there went my awesome speed and wonderful run.  I made myself keep going cause I figure if I need to have surgery (I'm meeting with the surgeon next week), that I'll have to take a little time off for that, so I want to run as much as I can now.  Still, the run was much more fun and felt a lot quicker than W6D3.

My WTF moments: about 1/3 of the way through my run I ran into an adorable puppy who was going for a walk with her owner, and she jumped up on me!  Now, I love puppies and if I wasn't running I would have been thrilled to play with her, but I kind of laughed, ignored her, and kept going.  A little while later I ran into the puppy again, and she jumped up on me again!!  I kept running, and then a little while later I passed her AGAIN, but was able to avoid her this time.  Too bad I was running, cause she was SO cute!

Obxgrl - I'm thinking about getting the Garmin 205....maybe an after surgery present for myself!

Re: ~~~ CALLING ALL WITNESSES - WEEK 7 IS HERE~~~~~

Hello Team WTF! Just wanted to check on you folks and say good job on sticking to your guns. It's worth it in the long run. Sorry I haven't been able to follow along very close with your progress, I've had a lot of personal stuff going on lately.

Good news is, I've been released to return to work, and all my PT for my back injury has paid off. Starting with a steady walk program, then walk/very-little-jog program, then walk/jog, I've finally moved up to running again, albeit at a slower pace. That's okay, speed will return on it's own when my body is ready for it.

Keep up the good work, the end result is worth it. Have a great weekend!

Re: ~~~ CALLING ALL WITNESSES - WEEK 7 IS HERE~~~~~

Hi All,

Great to finally be back on the thread. Just read everyone's posts for the week. So cool obxgirl stepped up and created this weeks thread for all of us. Thanks!

As my sis (meryl27) mentioned, we were running on vacation. I completed W5 days 1 and 2 on Tues and Thurs. Tuesday, the track was really nice but, while it was predicted to be in the 70's, it was in the low 50's, with a strong north wind slapping us in the face every time we came around the one corner of the track. WTF! Thursday the temp was better. The track was in use so we were running in the streets.

I am extremely proud of us for going out running Thursday morning because we were leaving town that morning by 10AM to drive home, 350 miles with 5 kids in the car. It would have been so easy to make an excuse and put it off. On top of getting packed, breakfast and showers we took time to go for our runs.

I am really proud of all WTF's. You all rock! Gall stones, stomach flu, running for distance. Take good care of yourselves, listen to your bodies.

Fitted for new shoes, Garmins. Sounds great. Maybe some day I will be able to splurge for these things. I never knew how serious buying new running shoes should be.

RunsWithWhales - Glad to hear you are recovering from your back injury and that you are running again.  Hope all continues to go well for you.

We need to hear from Bluedaisy and Lanity. How are you Blue? Did you have surgery yet Lanity?

Tomorrow is W5D3 for me, my first 20 minute run! I am so looking forward to it, hoping I can accomplish the whole 20 minutes without breaking to walk.

Take care all!

Re: ~~~ CALLING ALL WITNESSES - WEEK 7 IS HERE~~~~~

Finished W4D2.  Today wasn't as bad as day one.  I switched up the music, which seems to help.  I'm hanging in there.  I was a little concerned that I had ruined Week Four Take Two yesterday when I took at stupid fall on the ice and bruised up my knees pretty badly, but as luck would have it, running was no pain at all.  Well, no more than usual.

I plan on finishing week four tomorrow and hitting that dreaded week five on Monday.

Re: ~~~ CALLING ALL WITNESSES - WEEK 7 IS HERE~~~~~

Hi everyone!  Good job to all of us hangin' in there!

W7D2 finished today - I ran after the afternoon rains, but it was still soooo hot and humid, today was really a struggle.  I did all 25 mins but was practically "creeping" at the end!  I keep thinking that running here in FL in the winter is going to be a piece of cake!  If I am learning to run in this kind of summer florida weather, I'll be able to make progress leaps and bounds in the winter - maybe even work up to a whole 10K!

I am still so impressed by everyone's dedication and progress!  Congratulations to all!

Re: ~~~ CALLING ALL WITNESSES - WEEK 7 IS HERE~~~~~

Hi everyone!

W6D2 is done.  I honestly didn't think I could do it, because it's been such a busy week at work, and I was pretty tired (I'm a waitress).  I was actually heading back down the driveway, but then decided to see if maybe I could go on a little longer (the driveway is .25 miles long, so plenty of time to change my mind ).  I managed to do the whole workout.  I'm finding that the first 5 minutes are hard, then I get into a zone and it becomes more enjoyable.  Anyone else feeling the same way?  Can't wait to see if I can do the 25 minute run on Sunday.

mfssl~ good luck on your 20 minute run!  You can do it!

RWW~it's great to see you!  Happy to hear you're cleared to run again.

Hadababy~ Yay for your first 5K!  Have a great time, we can't wait to hear about it!

Glad to hear about everyone's runs!  Since I fell a week behind, I find it VERY encouraging to hear your stories.  Keep up the awesome work Team!

Re: ~~~ CALLING ALL WITNESSES - WEEK 7 IS HERE~~~~~

Yahoo!!!!  Ran my first 5k today!  Ran the whole thing!  Well, slow jog, but i didn't even have to stop and walk. Finished it in 34:30.    The middle mile was the hardest. I don't know if it's bc i was running against the wind or what, but once I got to the end of the 2nd mile, and knew I only had 1 mile to go, there was NO WAY I was stopping. I could'nt wait to come back here and tell all you guys that if I can do it 6 months after having a baby and after being a smoker for over 15 yrs (no smoking while I was pregnant though!) , you can too!     Keep up the good work guys!  We're all doing GREAT!!!
