Re: WEDNESDAY MILEAGE!

Brent, depending on the temperature and your distance, 3-4 ounces per mile may be reasonable right now, whether sip-and-go or swinging by someplace you can keep it cool. Up to 8-10 miles even now, I can get by pre-chugging, probably 13-15 in cool weather, but it makes more sense to replace your losses as you go if possible. Running half to marathon pace, I might be able to handle 20-24 ounces per hour, on slower runs up to 30 ounces before the slosh factor does more harm than good, even if I'm sweating much more; there's only so much blood your gut will receive at faster running paces, and your absorptive capacity may be limited.

Great running by you all!  Sounds like a great evening, rain delay or not!

Re: WEDNESDAY MILEAGE!

Immer,

I really do appreciate your comments, most helpful for a newb.  I am fortunate in that where I live and where I run are very different as far as temp goes. I live in Perris (CA...HOT!) and work in Oceanside CA. (nice fog and cool temps in the A.M.) I must say that my runs at home are for sure harder than my early A.M. runs down by the ocean.

I am planning on switching my long runs fron O'side to Perris about 2 months out...even if I can't keep the same pace, If I can keep the mileage up I think it will benefit me come the big day!!!
