Re: Anyone Else Starting C25K Week of July 6th?

Well First 5K down, very interesting starting and running with a large group, Unofficial time of 29:08, there were over 500 people registered for the race took me 0:28 to get to the starting line, and that was at a walking pace, and at one point in the first mile the path narrowed to a two person width so became a funnel of people so had to slow down.  Once I got into a grove just like any other run, just allot more people around.

Thanks to all of you for the encouragement,

Jay

Aussiemum - Isn't amazing the feeling of accomplishment when you complete the program!  Like Kate said go celebrate!!

Megoo4run -  Two more runs, and you will have plenty of time to prep for a 5K your times look great, look at doing some speed work shorter faster runs that can help the overall time.  And when you go out and do your first 5K remember it is just another run, you will do great.

Re: Anyone Else Starting C25K Week of July 6th?

Week 9 Day 2 done.  My sister is home for the weekend.  She's training for a half marathon and today's run happened to be 3 miles.  So I went out with her and her dog and we ran for 37 minutes!  I have no idea how fast or how far we went but I'm pretty sure we went about 3 miles.  One more to go!

Re: Anyone Else Starting C25K Week of July 6th?

Well today was my second 5K, it was my goal to complete a 5K on my 42nd birthday, and I did I finished in 27:35 unofficially and took 1st in my age group, huge shock since last weekend in my first 5K the overall winner finished 13 minutes ahead of me.  The best part of all this is I am getting into shape and feeling good.

Megoo4run - You have to love those runs that you just go and don't worry about distance or speed just out for a run.  Great Job, one and done, with this program but hopefully on to another.

19th Life Without Pain 5K Fun Run/Walk

Thanks to all of you for the support,

Jay

Re: Anyone Else Starting C25K Week of July 6th?

First off, Happy 42 Birthday, Jay!! What a way to celebrate!

The best part of all this is I am getting into shape and feeling good.

You're so right - this is the best part!

I'm working on making running a habit. I'm doing a hybrid plan - combination of several 8k/10k plans. Basically running 4x week, one long run, 2 easy runs and one mutation. I need structure  to keep me going but variation to keep it fun. So yesterday I ran over 3 miles, today I ran 2 but did some speed bursts and my favorite hill. Next time I'll just run for 30 minutes, however far that takes me. Will do yard work all day today (does that count as cross training???) and may take a spin on the bike before dinner.

I probably should be posting this on the new thread - I'll copy it over.

Great day in store here (except for the yard work!) - enjoy this last weekend of summer!

Kate
