Olympic Gold Medalist making 2nd Appearance at the 2009 5K Race for the Nation

 

For the 2nd year in a row, the 1964 Olympic 10,000 meter Gold Medalist Billy Mills of Sacramento, CA will be on hand as the official Master of Ceremonies for the 2nd Annual 5K Race for the Nation to be held on Saturday, August 15th 2009 in Chambersburg, PA.

 

 

This years event will feature a kid's 12 and under one-mile fun run starting at 8:00a.m. and the offical 5K Race to begin promptly at 8:30a.m. This event will also include a DJ, over $3,000 in cash and merchandise awards, a dunk tank, an autograph session with Billy Mills and plenty of after race refreshments.

 

 

Cash awards will be given to the top 3 men and women in the open division as well as the top 3 men and women in the masters division. Course record bonuses will be given to the individuals that break the current course records and win in the respective division. Double dipping is allowed. Age group awards will also be given.

This event is located at will start and finish at 500 Gateway Avenue, Chambersburg, PA 17201, which is about 30 minutes west of Gettysburg, an hour south of Harrisburg, and about 20 minutes north of the Maryland border on I-81. From I-81 South take exit 16 (Rt. 30). Make a left off the exit on Rt. 30 West, Lincoln Wat Avenue. Make a right at the first light onto Walker Rd. and follow back till you reach Gateway Avenue on the Left. From I-81 North take exit 17 (Walker Rd.), make a right off the exit and follow about 0.5 miles and make a right onto Gateway Avenue.

 

 

Registration will take place in the parking lot of Keyston Ford. Pre-registration is $5 for the kid's mile run and $20 for the 5K. Race day registration which will open at 7:00a.m. is $30 for the 5K. First 200 registrants are guaranteed a race t-shirt.
