Fundraising Ideas!!!

I'm recently joined Team in Training for Leukemia and Lymphoma. I have to raise 1800 dollars by_ November_. Please give me ideas because I need them in order to raise the required amount so I can participate in the Mercedes Half Marathon which I'm currently training for.
Post on social networking sites and encourage even the smallest of donations. Give your "visitor" a sense of the impact they can make for the money.
Thanks for the idea, I'll try that.
I'm thinking of fundraising so that I can participate in the Walt Disney World 1/2 Marathon in January. I've noticed that many charities have participant fund raising links so when people click on that link and make a donation it gets credited to your contribution.
My plans to help fundraising include:
1. Adding a signature to my message board posts with a web-link for people to make donations -- you never know when someone on some message board might be willing to throw a donation to someone.
2. Check with work -- many organizations have programs to make donations when their employees are contribute
3. Adding a signature to my general e-mails -- same reason as #1
My biggest concern is coming across pushy -- after all, the economy has been tough lately and I know many of my family is still recovering.

Strangers are not going to sponsor you - you can hold a bake sale or something similar - try the local businesses your frequent and see if they will hold and event or sponsor you
If you ask your friends and family for a $20 - you`ll get $20 - regardless of what they could afford - if you ask for $500 - for the most part you`ll get $100 or so depending on what they can afford and how strongly they feel about the cause - someone will shock you and drop the $500 - there is no such thing as too pushy !
Remind everyone you ask that their company most likely has matching donations - make it easy by sending all the info they will need - contact names , addresses and the charitys regisntraion number.
