SStrayer - I feel the pain.  Spending the time away from my kids is thr hardest part of my training.  I feel a little selfish when I have limited time with them as it is.  (Working, school, life)

Yeah I was having one of those why am I doing this moments this weekend and had a bad run.  But when I take the time to focus on being healthy reaching my goals the time spent usually calms me down and puts me in a better mood to deal with family needs.  (Today a good run!)  My friend tells me you get a good return for what you put in to running.  I believe it!

Hey, I totally feel your pain!  We are almost peas in a pod, lol!  I will be 31 on Tues. and have 1 dtg of my own and 2 "step-kids" who don't live here full time, and a boyfriend who is older than I, but can also run circles around me!  I sustained a knee injury back in Feb. when we were in Utah and was off of work for 10 wks, My left quad had basically wasted away to nothing by the time I returned to work, along with the 20lbs. I had gained from sitting on the couch "as prescribed".  I started biking this summer, but I used to be a runner and figured this would be a great way to get back into it.  I am also looking for someone to keep me motivated and accountable. I technically started today with day 1 and it went well. I hope that possibly we could do this together. Any questions let me know! I am curious... where do you live?

Best to you when you get started tomorrow! I just finished a Couch to 5K program the end of May. I am still running with a group of 10 women and we are starting to work toward a 1/2 next spring. It is the best thing I ever did. Great friends and have lost weight as well. You go!!

No need to feel guilty ab out taking time to take care of yourself. Remember, if you don't do it now, you may not be there for your children in the long run. Besides, we all deserve time to ourselves. It keeps us grounded.

C25K is a great program as long as you don't mind the stopping and starting. I've done it in the past and it worked ok, but now I find it a bit annoying so I am trying something new.

I am actually doing time trials rather than the C25K. Basically, I run till exhaustion, then the next day I add another minute to my time. I am trying to increase my running by increasing my time, rather than paying attention to distance.

Re: Starting c25k on 9/14...any takers?

I am starting today! I am 35 so a bit ahead of you... and need to lose about 25 pounds as well. I have had some health issues over the past few years and gained some weight. I HATE running.. ok I hate excersize but as I get older I realize I have to do it. I have a younger boyfriend who is a bodybuilder and there is no way I could keep up with him. I have 2 very athletic boys nearly 10 & 15 and I can't keep up with anyone.... so I have to do this. I got some comfy running shoes last time I was in SF as my feet were killing me so it is time to put them to good use.

Ok.... just eating my breakfast.... then in about an hour time to run... ugh
