I had my first 5k yesterday! I think I did pretty good. I followed all the advice I have recieved and read up on and started in the back of the crowd.(not sure if this was a good idea as I don't think they started timing us at the starting line, just when the race started). I started out at a moderate pace. One part was thru a wooded area, which is where I started to kick it up. I believe that was the beginning of mile 2. (there were no mile markers). By the last leg I speeded up some more and passed alot of people. I was suprised to come in at 30:49. I had a great time and it was for a good cause. At least now I have a base to measure myself by and the areas I need to focus on. And now I know that next time I will punch it out even more.
My bib now hangs on my wall in my home office above my computer...my first 5K...yey!
If I could I would do one of these every weekend!
