I had a great time at the Brooksie Way half this year. It was my first race and I thought it went really well. After the halfway mark, the course got a bit hard with a lot of uphill for about 4 miles, but overall it was a great time. Highly recommend doing it next year. I know I will.
I was very pleased with not only the better organized event from last year, but my 20 minute improvement from last year. I ran 2:08.52 last year (92 out of 125 in my division and 1189 Overall), and finished 1:48.50 this year (77 out of 188 in my division and 503 Overall!!) all though it was short of my goal of 1:44, I will keep this race as my annual fitness test, and try to improve every year until I peak, Hopefully around 1:20. Last year starting in July 2008, was the first time I started running, after ballooning to 245 lbs. I am now 190, and I am feeling great!! I recommend this race to anyone who is seeking a REAL 1/2 Marathon Challenge!! The Hills are awesome and they will humble you!!
