AFMR I also prefer running in the day. I run at dawn or dusk only if I must. Today it was 50 degrees and I was 2-3 minutes into my 5 minute warmup when I spotted a little red fox. I was surprised and said "oh my goodness." With that, he looked at me and sauntered back into the woods. I was running on my way back when he jogged across my path to go play or hunt in an open yard. It was really very cool. Half the leaves are still on the trees and the other half on the path, it looked like a picture. With the smell of fresh leaves and the sound of them crunching underneath my feet, it was an absolutely lovely day for a run.

Wow DWRP! That's awesome. How long did it take you to walk the marathon? I'm thinking of doing a half marathon in Feb. It will be mostly walking with some jogging. I'm hoping to get it done in about 3 hours. The good part is the course stays open for 7 hours for all runners/walkers doing the half and full marathon.

I did W8D2 pre-dawn today - it was 72, 100% humidity and no breeze.  I actually ran 3.0 miles in 52 mins, which is better than earlier in the week. Then we went to the Magic Kingdom, and walked about 5 miles.  I had a pedometer, but it came off half way thru.  Phew! Tomorrow is definitely a rest day, so I'll work on strength & weight training.

Run4it, I was a slowpoke -- just shy of 8 hours. It was a walking marathon, though, so everyone walked. My now-DH walked it with me. Then he ran-walked in Alaska a couple years later. John "The Penguin" Bingham was the motivational speaker at the carbo-load dinner the night before he ran.

Babeinthewoods, that is an absolutely beautiful image!!

We did W5D1 one today and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The interesting part is that my partner was timing it and, including the walking portion, were did a 13 minute mile. I was surprised were going that fast and knowing felt kind of cool. Now I'm toying with the idea of picking up one of the Nike Plus sensors so that I can monitor and play with data. Yes, I am a numbers geek, why do you ask?

Congrats Shell!! That is fantastic and a 13mm is impressive. I am a numbers geek too; math major and work with stats all day.   I have a Garmin 305 because that is what my husband had -  Nike Plus looks great!

Hi Jo Ann; you and me are about the same pace; I think you have your weight in your signature. I am weight about 250 right now. trying to break the 247. mark.  congrats on W8; predawn and still 72 and humid. I am enjoying the cooler weather right now when I run. I am hoping to start strength training this weekend.

That is cool about the fox! I run around my neighborhood right now so all I have are dogs.   I like the early morning but after it gets light out.

Cranky Goat; way to go on starting!! You can do it! We all did it. I always did my 5 min warmup walk and cooldown walks and I didn't try to run too fast. I wanted to be able to finish and build stamina!

    You are on your way!!

AFMR - It was probably on my end with work access issues.  The new logo on you blog is cool!  Have you guys decided when you are telling the kids?  You and Mrs. F. have been such an inspiration to me.  I hope you keep up with your blog.

    Re: 200lb+ C25K Oct 26-Nov1

Hey everyone! Happy Friday! I don't know about you guys, but for me this has been the longest week ever! Between work and school and still getting over the last remnants of my flu, this week has dragged! I'm so glad it's the weekend! Now would one of you self-professed "numbers geeks" like to take my stats exam for me?

I ran a thirty minute run this morning...technically it's my first run of the One Hour Runner plan. I know that I could technically start at the fourth week of the program, but I want to get a bit more comfortable with the thirty minute run (and back into full working order after my flu) first. It was COLD this morning! Ok, so it was actually like 45 degrees and I have no right to complain, but I was chilly! I started doing C25k this summer where even when my roommate and I went out at 10pm, it was still 101 degrees out. 45 was cold.

I hope everyone has a great Friday and finishes the week on a high note! Happy Halloween weekend everybody!

AFMR - I tried to post on your blog but it requires me to sign into one of those sites and I don't belong to anything except active and livestrong.

My vote is for race day.

Also, I noticed a lot of people use Gateway to 8k (GW28K) when they finish C25K. I think that's the route I'll go because I need a structured plan to follow and also because it has a podcast. You can check it out at Runsource.net

Finished W2D1 on Wednesday (there were thunderstorms, so I waited a day)...with blisters...which means tonight I'll be in "conventional" shoes...

Also, highly recommend the New Yorker fiction podcast...I listened to that instead of my Pearl Jam...it was a nice change of pace.

Is it me or is W2 almost easier than W1?

And finally...I need some tweeps @runnoobrun. Most of my followers are spambots.
