DanceWalkRun- I'm here in Florida at Canaveral on vacation for a week. Its been humid with record highs for the season, and I'm not used to exercising in these conditions. When it gets this way in North Alabama, I just stay inside. On Weds, pre-dawn, it was humid and 79, and I just said NO, and did my workout at the gym, followed by watching the Ares rocket launch from our condo balcony. I was cool! Yesterday I did a pre-dawn 3 mile run when it was 72 deg. Then we spent the day at Disney World, where I briskly walked between rides, till I pooped out. The only indulgences I had was a pineapple juice/ice cream treat, and half a cinnamon bun. I had a protein bar and apple to hold me over. Boy, the high food prices there sure help someone to diet.
AFMR- I vote that you wait till the race to tell your kids. Congratulations on your C25K graduation! I too am trying to figure out what I will do next. You seemed to do very well with the podcast music. I did my training to Dire Straits, and my pace (& foot turnover) is much slower. Since I already am running my 3 miles in about 55 mins, I don't need the One Hour Runner, but something that takes my pace from 17-18mm down to 12-13mm. Any suggestions?
Donna- I was at 245# before this trip. I'm hoping to still lose 1-2 lbs on this trip, or at least break even. I', not getting the same amount of cross-training on this trip as I do at home.
I look forward to running in the 40's & 50's when I return home. Today I recover from yesterday's run and the almost 5 mi walk at Disney. I only did some swimming today. How does everyone else handle their training when on the road for work or vacation?
Well, I better post this before it dies on me again. Have a good training weekend!
