    Re: 200+ Nov 9th-Nov 15th

Greetings -- I have been M.I.A. for a few days. Yesterday I did W4D1 on the treadmill. I was so PROUD to be able to run 5 minutes at a time! A month ago I'd never done that. Tuesday night I walked an hour on the tread while watching The Biggest Loser. That was a good workout, too.

Today I need to go out and get some exercise, and it's pretty outside. I'm resisting the urge to go run, but it is sooooo tempting. I don't want to injure myself with too much too soon (is that TMTS?). Time to just simply go for a walk.

P.S. I have more catching up to do on this thread.

Way to go, Dance and welcome back.  Hope you had a good walk.

Smash- are you a lawyer?  Cuz the only people I know that use words like caveat empteur are the law professors I work for!    Congrats on seeing your foot!  Sorry to hear about the shoes.

Transplanted - WOW! 100 miles.  That's fantastic.  I am looking forward to that kind of a milestone.   Keep it up!

    babeinthewoods,

They mucked up his gender on the race registration? Well, it can be fixed one of two ways. I'm assuming he'd prefer the one that involves them updating their records...

I have been avoiding the scale lately since I haven't been on track with keeping calorie count going, etc.

But I jumped on yesterday morning and I'm down 5 lbs. Slow but steady, I'll get somewhere at some point

AFMR - LoL! yes well we discussed it and he decided to go the records route. HaHa too funny!  Good Luck to you and Mrs AFMR on your 5K. I wish I could see the look on your kids' faces when you and Mrs F run your race.

Moviechic - 5 lbs is great! If you think about it, 5 lbs a month for a year is 60 lbs. I don't know how much you want to lose but how sweet would 60 be?

I ran the first leg of the C25K and I realized how out of shape I allowed myself to become. On the positive side, starting out slow allows me to look forward to conquering the 5K and beyond yet again. Let's do this.

I was lucky to get a run in between nor-easter pouring rains and the massive wind gusts kept me cool.

It is great to read through this thread. You are great motivators and i look forward to posting here frequently, and lighter and lighter each time.

mngreeneyes, not a lawyer, but did take 5 years of Latin

GoRunIrish, to be honest, they're like running in a watersock. I felt protected in them, but you definitely know you have them on. I had done a couple of runs on them, but the temperature has been too cold for them for the last two weeks. They take some getting used to, I've realized...you can't jump right in or you'll get a foot full of blisters. As much as I liked them, they're a little pricey to come apart that soon...so if they take them back, I'm not sure I'll be getting the same pair. What that means is it's shoe shopping time again this weekend.

I finished W4D2 last night...hardest run so far, mainly because of my 5 mile walk on Wednesday night. My calves were very, very sore...but I managed to finish...and threw a hill in for good measure.

While scanning through the posts, my eyes saw "separation incident," and I suddenly thought the thread had turned to discussing Janet Jackson's Superbowl half-time show a few years ago.  For some reason, "separation incident" evoked an association with "wardrobe malfunction".  I guess I play too much Taboo!

I learned much Latin from the movies:

    momsondabus

    popsondabus

    whensdanextbus

[Anyone remember that one? Wasn't it with Chuck Norris, and he was disguised as a priest...]

My favorite Latin saying, however, is fotitudinae vinciums (by endurance we conquer).  It was the family motto of Ernest Shackleton, an antarctic explorer who was involved in a most amazing adventure (well worth checking out!).

Well, anyway, I must pass the day away.

Aut insanit homo, aut versus facit

[Disclaimer: I do not know Latin.  I know trivia...and Google.]

    Re: 200+ Nov 9th-Nov 15th

Smash - I was going to chime in on the whole caveat emptor thing, but looks like everyone else beat me to it! Anyways, I just wanted to thank you for using it correctly! I took Latin from 4th to 9th grade when I was a kid and I cringe when people use those Latin legalese-y phrases incorrectly, which is depressingly often!

AFMR and Mrs. F - I'm going to add my wishes of good luck for tomorrow and join everyone in breathless anticipation for the post-race, post-surprise round up! We're all so excited for you two!

I ran a 30 minute route this morning. I was much slower than I have been lately, BUT it's also the first run in a few where I didn't stop for any walk breaks. Since I got sick a few weeks ago, it's been a major mental struggle to get my runs in and enjoy them. I think this weekend I'm going to sit down for a bit and try and figure out how I can maybe change up my routine or something to get my mojo back. I can't really afford to enter any 5k races right now (money-wise or time-wise) and all the free ones offered by my area running shops invariably fall during my class times! Maybe I'll be able to find something after the first of the year that I can commit to to keep me on track...

Oh, and? My dailymile workout log tells me that I have run 102.7 miles! Yippeeeeeeeeeeee!
