Hello runners!
Beginning the week of January 4, 2010 I'm going to start the Couch-to-5K running plan to start running again after a knee injury. Knee injuries have forced me to stop training for two marathons already and it's because I ran too much too fast. I won't make that mistake again and I'm going to use the C25K plan to make sure I take it nice and slow this time. I invite anyone else who wants to start running again or for the first time to join me!
The following information is from this website where you can find even more links and information to get you started: http://www.c25k.com/
"C25K, is a fantastic program that's been designed to get just about anyone from the couch to running 5 kilometers or 30 minutes in just 9 weeks....Its secret is that it's a gentle introduction to getting the body moving, starting off alternating between walking and running small distances, and slowly building up until after 8 weeks, you're ready to run 5 kilometers or 30 minutes non stop".

Hey Missy, I am starting the C25K today, December 28th. I'll keep you updated on my progress and please let me know how things are going for you. We are having a 10K in the town I live in on April 24th so I am training for that. After I complete the C25K I am going to begin the One Hour Runner program. Good Luck to everyone who is beginning this program!

I am ready! Count me in, too.
Hi! I am planning on giving this thing another go on Jan 4 as well. I have tried this program twice before and the last time I made it to week 7 and got discouraged with hip and heel pain and gave up. It seems like I make it farther with each try so I am hoping that this time I can go all the way. Good Luck to all of you and I will be reporting in on the 4th.
Hey everyone, I completed Week 1, Day 1, yesterday. It felt really good, like I accomplished something. I dont feel sore today, rather, I feel like I want to run more this afternoon. I am not going to because they say to give yourself a day of rest in between and I don't want to hurt myself or burn out. I may do some strength training though. I will keep checking in and let you know how my first week goes.

Overweight my entire life
Would like to lose 30-40lbs (about 1lb each week)
I have never been an athlete... and definitely have never run comfortably... or by choice. lol
Married
No kids
Graduate school full-time right now - quit my job in August and am now beginning a search for part-time employment until next August when I complete school
I am SO MOTIVATED. I can't wait to get on that treadmill again tomorrow.

Hi Everyone...I started the C25K back in the spring and let myself get derailed! I'm comitted to making it all the way through this time! Here's to W1D1 on 1/4!!
I'm in! I have never been a runner, but I have to do something. This past year has been aweful, I was pregnant with triplets and was told I could not do any exercise for 5 months, then I lost the pregnancy. A couple months later I was sitting at my desk at work and had a mini stroke which ended up being caused by a hole in my heart, which unbenost to me had been there since birth. Three weeks later I had a procedure to fix the hole. Now I am healthy and 50 pounds heavier than I want to be and I am ready to take back control of my life. This seems like an excellent way to start.
