Becoming an Ultra Pacer

Hey guys and gals,

Right now, I'm training for my second marathon and hoping to qualify for Boston.  To get more hill work, I've been running a trail weekly and having a lot of fun during those runs.  I'm considering either running or pacing an ultra in the fall if I qualify for Boston in the spring.  I figured I'd probably rather get my feet wet by being a pacer.  I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on finding someone to pace.  I figured I'd contact the race organizers or maybe local running club, if there's an event I'm interested in pacing.  I live in the big city, so I don't have any running contacts that would actually be running an ultra on the trails.  Anyone have any other good suggestions?

You are on the right track contacting the event organizer and local clubs. What city do you live in? There should be plenty of Big City folk running in trail races.

Go to  Find a local race and go to the website.  Some of the larger websites have runner/pacer forums that you could use to hookup with a runner in need of a pacer.  That's how I got started by pacing at Leadville.

    Good luck.
