That is awesome Beans! 20 minutes is fantastic! I love running capris too; I do think they make it easier to run.
I have been told that I jog and have even been told I wog (a mixture of walking and jogging) . One time the mail lady said to me "I don't know how you do that fast walking that looks harder than running". LOL I was running.
I agree aubosox. I think losing weight (I am 245 presently) will be the best way for me to get faster. I don't do speed work yet because of my weight. I do think it helps when you get down to a lower weight.
I ran 4 miles yesterday!! My longest run ever. It was slightly more than an hour (5 minutes over) but that is good for me. I was so excited. I have been doing 2 miles and then signed up for a 10K on Halloween; did a 5K last October and ran 3 miles only a few times really. probably under 10. So a week ago I ran 3.5 and then 4 this weekend. It can be done by a 245 pound woman; just take it slow and easy. No injuries yet!
W8D2 done and over. decided to run this morning and am glad I did. I ran the best time ever for the 5k practice run (53:21) total distance today 3.75 miles in 64:24. (yay me).

Its not the desire to win that matters most, its the desire to prepare for the win that matters.
My wife and I did a local 5K this morning. She got a new PR of 45:00 and I did it in 33:21! There were some killer hills on the course. I am looking forward to the Head for the Cure event at the end of the month, I think I can hit 30:00 on that course. It has a couple small hills and the rest is pretty much flat.
Great job everyone!
@ jonDot: how exciting!! :-)
For me: week 7 finished!!! :-) FINALLY! :-) 25 minutes, and 2.15 miles! ANd I even took the route with the steep hill right at the beginning! I'm thrilled :-D :-D
My knees have started aching though and that makes me sad. I've come so far without having any problems, so it really bums me out that I'm starting to hurt now. I think it's partially because I'm on pavement now, not the all-weather track. It's also time for new shoes, though. Oh well, all iced up and strecthed now and feeling good!
Blessed are the geeks for we shall inherit the Earth.
Good run or bad run? The only run that matters is the one I actually do! Keep going!

Haven't posted much lately, but thought I'd report on my first 5K since May. Today dawned humid and 75 deg & temps went up from there. Probably was 80 deg at 8AM race start. This is a relatively small local race w 226 folks doing the 5K run. This is my first race without my Nike+. For some reason the unit is not working anymore, even though I got a new iPod and a new Nike+, it just doesn't "see" the transmitter. I miss the capability of pushing a button and getting pace and distance info.
I started out at the back as always, but I wasn't the last one anymore! I slowly started passing people, even during the first quarter mile. There were many people just like I was last year - quickly out of breath after only a few minutes. But for me - NOT TODAY! I took advantage of the downslopes and chugged up all of the hills, even the steepest one before mile 2. I never walked. I did mile 1 in 12:08, mile 2 and 3 around 13.5 min each. Between 2.5 & 3 miles is a gradual hill which I managed okay, then picked up the pace to sprint to the finish!
I finished in 40:47, about 20 sec less than my PR, which was flatter and on a cooler day. So I'm very happy with the results, because I expected to take 2-3 mins longer. Who know what my time would have been with optimum conditions? I finished 199/226, 10 mins before the last finisher & 22 mins less than when I did this race last year. Plus I'm 55 lbs less. I was the 2nd oldest woman running, and the only one in my age group (so I got 1st).
This is my first race with a heart monitor (on my Garmin 310XT). Last week when I did a slow long 6 mi run in the heat, my HR ranged from 140-160 (mostly zone 2&3). with a 148 ave. Today, I spent 2.4 mi in Zone 4, with a race average of 168, and a peak near 100% during the .1 mi sprint to the finish. It will be very interesting to use this as a tool during my normal training to push myself a little harder on the easy runs, and to use for interval training. I just need the foot pad so I can use it on the TM.
I've got a sprint tri in 4 weeks. I've been pushing my long slow runs so that I could do a HM in mid-Nov, but I see there is a HM in Nashville on 9/25. I think I will try for that if just gets a little cooler in the AM a few times so that I can get some long runs in.
I hope that everyone who raced today did well and that all of you who are near the end of C25K can meet the goals that you have set for yourself.

Well, I was supposed to run my first 5k tomorrow, but sadly I won't be participating. At least not officially. The purpose of the race is a fundraiser for cancer research and I was not able to meet the minimum fundrasing goal. :(
So, instead of an official 5k at 6:30 tomorrow morning, I will just head out on my own for an unofficial 5k.

Thanks Moonie! I used to have problems with my knee's but I found out my problem was my IT bands were too tight. My doctor gave me some stretch's to help them and I haven't had any problems since. Here is a pic of me taken during todays race, and 1 of my wife and myself. There is a local Photographer that gors to the majority of the races here in Kansas City and takes pics that you can pull off of his wesite for free.
