Wow, that's great! Hopefully I can follow this week. I am also leaning towards just settling in at a consistent 30 for a few weeks while I evaluate what to do next. I am torn between G28K, OHR, and slowly adding a fourth day.

TXmom, This week I went to the every other day running instead of 3 times a week.  So I guess that's half way to the 4 day a week thing.  I just don't think I'm ready to do back to back days running.  I still need the rest days.

    Re: 200+ Pound Club!

I got my dad a HRM for Christmas. He has been doing C25K with me. He is only a little overweight, but he is 67 with a family history of heart disease. I'm not real sure how to tell him to use it (he refers questions of this type to me, lol). Any tips?

    Re: 200+ Pound Club!

I had to run Thur. and Fri. back to back and I was definitely feeling it yesterday. I don't want to do the every other day route because Sunday is out for me. I though about slowly adding that fourth day with C25K intervals, then eventually moving on to OHR with the fourth day being the long one. I kinda have to keep my dad in mind, too.

Only tip I can offer is for him to talk to a sports medicine doctor.  They probably have some tips to offer.

I use mine just to monitor my heart rate.  I don't know how my body reacts to the exercise to use it for anything more than a monitor.  I have found that when I'm ready to start walking, I tend to be at about 165 bpm and if I can just slow down a little to allow my heart rate to drop some, it lets me continue on.  I'm feeling really good from about 150-160.

    Re: 200+ Pound Club!

@gdsmit : congratulations on graduating!! Well done sir!

@Trish : HAPPY BIRTHDAY belated..keep up the hard work, and I hope the best for you in the coming year!!

@WG : heya bud, I hope all is going well for you! Are you volunteering this year at DRB?

@yoga : Hey I hope your leg(s) are on the mend and feeling better! Keep on keeping on girl!!

@200lb Club Members : Thank you all for sharing your experiences and encouragement with eachother in 2010! You're making healthy changes for yourself and no doubt inspiring many others to do it for themselves too. Its truly a pleasure to take part in this thread, and I draw from it inspiration and motivation to keep putting one foot in front of the other..It seemed at first that I was 'too fat to be a runner', and we are all continually proving that wrong. Cheers to your hard work!!

Well..I've been battling a flu for the past week or more..I have put some runs in and feel like I'm just about 80%.. I did my first Bikrams yoga class the day before my flu kicked in and I gotta say that it was an awesome experience..when I'm well again I'm considering making it a weekly commitment. At any rate, I just wanted to drop in and say howdy..enjoy your running and polishing off 2010 with sweat dripping and an elevated heart rate!!  ;)

I didn't get the flu but I'm getting over a bad cold... It's been so cold outside I didn't want to run so  I ran 3 miles on the Treadmill this morning and I want to do 2 miles later today.

    Re: 200+ Pound Club!

It's been nearly two weeks since I've ran.. :-( I'm disappointed in myself but I am going to try to get a run in after work today. It is just so hard for me to get motivated and go outside in 20 degree weather. In other news I have a little added motivation, My wife and I just found out that we are going to be having our first (and probably only) child. I'm excited but she hasn't quite gotten used to the idea of being a mother yet. So I have a new goal. I have about 8 months to get until the baby is born, so I would like to be at least 75% of the way to my goal weight. To reach this goal I will need to lose about 60-80 lbs. Ideally I would like to get to around 200 lbs.

    8 months, 80 pounds

    It's Achievable.

Wes, congrats on the upcoming baby.  You can do the 80 pounds in 8 months, but you need to keep the goal in view.

I was not motivated to running outside either so I ran on my treadmill. Congrats on the baby news! I had my 4th and LAST 2 years ago.
