I was wondering if anyone has ever used the stick (www.thestick.com) for muscle strains? my hamstring is bothering me a bit and i was wondering if this could help massage it out? any other recommendations for strained hamstrings? thanks!

The Stick is a great tool for getting out tight spots in your hamstrings or any muscle. I'm an even bigger fan of a foam roller, which allows you to put more pressure on the muscle. Either the Stick or a foam roller are used as self-massage or a form of myofascial release. As with any therapy like this, be careful not to be too aggressive. This is especially true if you have a strain like you mentioned. First, ice the area several times per day for two days then try the Stick/roller.
I like to use a foam roller at night after 10-15 minutes of core/strength work. I run in the morning, so it allows me to warm up a bit then release any tight spots before bed. I wake up feeling great!
Cheers, - Fitz.
My husband bought it for me on Sunday and I doubted how effective it would be, but used it after my horrible long run on tired cramped legs, and couldn't believe how well it worked. It helped ALOT with my recovery...totally recommend the Stick.
I agree with eveyone here. I use it for myself and in my practice as a trainer. The foam roller idea is also excellent. Use it before and after runs for best results. Remember to properly prepare muscles for a run you don't want to do static stretching before. Use the stick or roller first, follow with light activity similar to sport activity (walking before running) then follow with easy active progressive stretching. Now you're ready.
thanks for the insight everyone. just ordered one!
Yes, it is a godsend for muscle stiffness, soreness, and pain
I use it literally wherever it hurts
A foam roller may help you too!!
