I have 2 feet that function completely differently due to an accident that severed all the ligaments in one my ankles. Finding shoes that help has not been an issue, but finding an ideal insert has. I have run through most of the off the shelf and semi-custom options and now feel the way to go is with a true orthotic. Unfortunately no podiatrist in my area really focuses on sports medicine. I have checked with the local orthotic specialists (o-pods) that are not MDs and they focus mainly on the older generation. So the bottom line is does anyone recommend any mail order services?
It's not a mail order service, but there might be a store in your area ... Road Runner started a new service the creates custom orthotics and not only are they cheaper than the medical office fitted ones, but in my opinion, they fit better. I have done a few orthotics - ranging from inserts to medical professional created, and I love my Road Runner orthotics.
Check out http://www.roadrunnersports.com/ to see if they have a store in your area. I am very happy with mine. A little pricey on the clothing, but they have other really great, hard to find items as well.
Thanks for the input. I did have set made there for around $70. Unfortunately they caused more problems than they fixed. This was even after a break in and trial period that lasted 3 weeks. I was very hopeful that these would be my final product. Road Runner still has the best staff in my opinion though.
