Hi there all,
This is my first day here - I just found the active community, and have been reading loads of interesting posts. I hope this post will be of interest.
About 5 months ago, I went for my annual physical, and came back with news that I had really high blood pressure - at dangerous levels for someone my age. I was told that I had to go on medication, or I was going to be at serious risk. This was bad news, in so many ways, especially for someone who has never taken more than a headache pill ....
Anyway, I went to my GP, who was pretty much in agreement that I was going to have to take pills for the rest of my life. He did give me some hope, though, and sent me to a dietician who he said might be able to help.
Well, she was a task-master, but very professional with it! She changed my diet, and I ended up eating more than ever before. She made me start exercising - at least 1 hour of walking every 2 days. And, lo and behold, in just 5 months, I've lost 17 pounds, and most important, my blood pressure is completely normal !! With not a pill in sight

She says that for sure the diet was important, but it is BEING ACTIVE that really counts.
All the best,
Debi
