Ray, I'm so glad you didn't get " chicked". I know how you guy's male egos are.
Congratualtions on your ag place....awesome!
Ron, good job on your awesome race and ag award too!! You guys are FAST!
Dan, you are going to do great on your HM this month! Hopefully the weather will cool down some and it will be a great race.
MaryKay.....what are we gonna do with you! Bless your heart! Seems like that little guy named Murphy is following you everywhere. Tell him to take a hike!! Advsie....take it easy. Are you following the Jeff Galloway plan? If not, pick up one of his books and read on his website....there is a tremendous amount of free info there. Also, ck out TheExtraMilePodCast.com galloway edition or the galloway experiment. Lots and lots of great info. I am convinced that for those of us that are... ghxmm..... more mature..... or injury prone, this is the only way to go.
It is hard for us to want to do more, but yet we have to decide what is the long term goal and go from there.
As I write that, I'm telling myself....Marie, follow your own advise!
I've got a 10K race this Saturday. You all know that I don't do a lot of races, but this is a big one and daughter and I have been looking forward to it. She wants us to break an hour, but I don't think that is realistic for me. That would require a <9:50 pace and my training runs are =>10:20. Given the heat factor, and wanting to be conservative to avoid injury (gotta train for Goofy) I just don't think I'll push for it. It is a flat course so that will help speed somewhat, but don't think it would help that much. So, my quandry is, do I insert my walk breaks or run continuous. I'm thinking I will do a 4/1 or 3/1 run/walk interval and lets the chips fall where they may. Like I said, I don't want to hurt myself. I'm already a bit sore from Tuesday night speed work out, where we did barefoot drills and then some down and up hills.
That was an interesting session, not only was I the only woman there, I was by far the oldest. These guys all had kids the age of my grandkids or younger! So I did my pace and they all let the testosterone flow. But they were all really nice and cheered for me. I think I was somewhat of an inspiration.
Anyhow, it was fun and I plan to go back as often as I can.
Happy running!
61 year olds must be out of their minds to run a half marathon followed by a full the next day!
