I got to run today but it was so hot this morning and I didn't eat before leaving the house so I stoped my run short and only did 2 miles. I won't let that happen again.

WOW!  that is awesome.  I am on W1D3 and look forward to this.  I can only jog 1 1/2 min at a time but it feels ok until that last 15 seconds and it's hard.  I think this is why I have never jogged or ran because I thought it could never happen.  After reading success after success with the couch to 5K and people my size and age do run!  With eating better, I hope to shed those pounds.  I love to use the treadmill and I am walking 30 mins. in between my c25k training days.  Of course I do 20-25 mins. slower paced -3.0 and I feel good.

slomo2: for me I run about 11am to 1230 pm or sometime between there. you might just have to set the alarm to get up a little earlier then you would like to in order to run. sometimes for me I we have a running path along the river(dry creek bed with a little water in it) that I can go run at if I dont want to drive. school yards track are great if you are off on the weekend? during the week I try to keep it around 30 mins so I can get a nap in before work. sometimes I get one sometimes I dont.

Hope that might help... you can do it... I look forward to seeing you post that you got thru this rut as well...

    Happy running...

    its my choice of drug,,,,

    I love this thread.

I just finished W6D3 and it was great. Can't wait until Thursday for my next run. I'm happy to report that my shin splints seem to have vanished as well. Whoo!

Hey flamomof3 i always run on an empty stomach (6-8 hrs since last food). But the KEY is to Hydrate your muscles with a Litre (+ or -) of water before running.Of course if that is if u WANT to lose weight/more weight while running.I found article years ago by German Scientists who laid out the TRUTH about weight loss, running, etc.I just started back running about Month ago.Was absent year + half or so.Always push too hard.Run 45 Mins first run.Hour 2 mins second run.Up to 2 Hrs 10-14 Mins on some runs now.(about 12.5 Miles). I'm 53 BTW!

Nice forum, hope have time to check back often.

Re: Calling all Penguins (slow runners)

I know this sounds crazy but....I too like to run on an empty stomach, but not too empty.  I usually eat a few bites of a NuGo bar (gluten free for me) and drink some water.  If my tummy is empty and I drink water, I get this sloshy feeling/sound that drives me nuts!!!  Same thing on race days...I tried that goo stuff for race days but not such a good choice for me...I stick with the nibbles off the bars!

Re: Calling all Penguins (slow runners)

@slo-mo2- I work from 12:30 to 21:30 ish with an hour commute, I run in the morning after taking my kids to school, the plan I used and will use calls for 2 30 minute runs during the week then a distance run that increases about every 2 weeks.  I have been required to work a more traditional day schedule on occasion and have done my runs after work which I didn't like as much, my legs feel better in the morning before a day of standing and walking.  I enjoy working out in the morning to start my day.  Another option is to do your night runs on a treadmill.  As for motivation that has to be internal, need to find your "why" if it is not personal then the motivation won't be as effective. External sources can be used for support and encouragement.  And this is a great site for that

@flamom- any run is a good run, enjoy the moment!  Too hot, I was happy just to be outside running today, though temps are dropping and I came home to snow so my next run may be indoors.

Re: Calling all Penguins (slow runners)

I should just get into the habit of going right to bed shortly after I get home from work, instead of around 3:00 am or so.  If I do that, I could get up earlier and get into a more regular habit of running/exercising.  Then I could save one day a week to catch up on stuff.  Right now in my area it is cold, and I am not great with running outdoors in cold weather, although I have done it.  So I may concentrate on doing intervals on a treadmill, at least for now, to work on trying to increase my speed (or lack thereof).

What is this C25k training program that everyone is talking about, and where is the link to it, so I can see the training program?

Good luck at your upcoming marathon. Don't know about the airport part of things. I haven't traveled since the newer security procedures began, but it will just be something to distract you from your nerves about the race. Again, good luck.
