Considering the handicap and how I did in Charleston I wouldn't be surprised if I don't have the half marathon purple pickle award in the bag.  I think I can hop on one leg in Tampa and beat my Charleston time by 20 minutes or more.

If you think I'm going cut you a break on this time just because you ran half the race backwards you are sorely mistaken.

I think Taylor was making excuses for the showing, especially after scorching the 5k.

Oh damn so now I have to work extra hard to try and whoop up on you to try and take home what will be my 3rd Doppel award????

Speaking of awards - two of the three 5ks I'm registered for in the Tour de Patrick in March have less than 1000 participants registered.  Im gonna keep kicking my own arse with twice weekly speed training with hopes of bringing home some sort of award from one of these!

There's going to be a whole lot more and a lot stronger competition in your age group than there was in mine.  But, you can do it!!!  Don't forget to work your marathon training in there along with tearing up the 5K's and halfs.

I’m working on the Purple Pickle Spreadsheet. I've been picking though Active and FB for your races and haven’t found anything yet for Jim, Squeaky, Tim, Vince, et al. Y’all have anything planned or have you run something I missed between 1/2 and 3/31 other than Charleston of course.

Cristina – are you still planning to do the Shamrock Marathon?

I’m pretty sure I have everything for Taylor, Melanie, Don, John, Ronda, Brad and Maryalicia but it wouldn't hurt to repost your races here to make sure I didn't miss anything.

Would you believe 15 half marathons on the list so far?

I thought I'd post this question here too.

Anyone tried any of the Hammer supplements? A friend of mine just finished the Disney Marathon in 3:30 (18 minutes faster than he ran Space Coast, which was his first too) and swears the Anti-Fatigue Caps and Endurance Amino made a difference.  I passed him at about the 3 hour mark going the oposite direction at the Space Coast Marathon, I was at about mile 18 and he was probably around mile 22.  He was at a dead stop trying to massage a severe cramp out of his calf, in obvious pain, and still finished in 3:48.

I was thinking about giving them a try.

Here's what I have so far.

Again, handicaps will be calculated based on Taylor's Pre-Purple Pickle PR (try to say that 3 times fast) unless someone faster comes along.  I also updated everyone's PR's from their fall races.

This time I used actual PR's for the longer races where I had a time, otherwise they are estimated based on the 5k PR and converted using the McMillan calculator.

I will figure the final handicaps once the list is closer to being complete.

I just have some random ramblings about my last 5k.

As I stated in the "My last run was...how was yours?" thread, I ran in the Shamrock 5k among 4,615 people! The largest race I've ever completed. I PR'd with a sub-30 time of 29:12 (I'm sorry that I keep posting this everywhere but I'm really really proud).

But here's my list of random things:

    1. It was a chipped race. I didn't know which time I should go off of (gun vs. chip), but in all fairness, it took me about a minute or more just to get to the start mat! So I'm posting the chipped time, darnit!

    2. I mapped the route in mapmyrun and the course was apparently much longer than 3.1 miles. When I mapped it out, it came out to be 3.69 miles. It was a USAT&F course so I thought that it would've been super accurate, but I guess not. I'm still confused by this.

    3. I ran in my new running skirt and I loved it! YAY for running skirts.

    4. I heard the funniest conversations from people while running along. Here's my favorite: After starting off from the start line, and traveling about 3 blocks, one girl stops while gasping for air to say "How far was that?" lol

    Okay, I'm done

No worries though, I've got a freshly shaved dome and the improved aerodynamics will give me the edge I need.

Hello all it seems like it has been forever since someone posted in here. Hey Bird I am not sure that I will be doing the Road Racer 5k as it is in the middle of my training. I will be doing atleast 2 in april maybe three. Because that is what it looks like my training plan is suggesting to get ready for may 15th

Douniwan - Hello and welcome to our taunting and race thread. Tell us a little about you, besides your newly improved aerodynamics. Where are you from? what distances do you like ro run? what are your results? you know stuff like that.

Dreamstate - Welcome to our Goodnatured taunting thread. Congradulations on the race and also on the PR. Yes you always go off of your chip time unless its otherwise stated in the rules. Also if it was a certified course I would probably go with what the course. One of the easiest ways to check is if you have a garmin or gps that you can use during the race. That will give you more exact distances (usually). Although I have never worn a skirt racing I hear they are comfortable. So again congrats on your race and your PR. Whats next for you?

    Thanks taylor007!

Well, my mom has always been active, even since I was a little girl. She does weight training, aerobics, and she runs from time to time. Well I finally talked her into running a 5k with me so I'm running with her for her first 5k on March 26th. I don't have a goal in mind...just helping her to get across the finish line and to enjoy the experience.

In the meantime, I'm training for my first 10k, scheduled for May 15th (2 days before my 29th birthday).  And to top it off, it will be my first race outside of Baltimore. I'm running in the Capitol Hill Classic around DC.  It should be a lot of fun and really exciting. I'm up to running 5.5 miles for a long run. I'm training for an 8 mile run. I find that I do so much better when I can run 2+ miles over the race distance.

I have another 5k thrown in there for kicks around April, but I'm really looking forward to the 10k.
