I am a total beginner to this whole running/walking world. I have been invited by my niece to participate in the Arizona Rock 'n Roll Marathon in January. I have been following the training program and I feel pretty good about it; other than the days I feel terrified that it is reaaly going to happen!!!
But what I really want to know, if anyone can weigh in on my question, *_Is it better to run in walking shoes - or - walk in running shoes?_ *
I am on track to walk the 1/2 marathon, but I have been training with intervals of running. So I am wondering how I should go about completing my first athletic event!
Thanks for your help.
It's going to depend partially on how you walk -- are you race/power walking or will you be strolling? If you will be walking very fast, you may want to consider the running shoe, but it's probably worthwhile talking to someone in a running store to see what they think based on your pace/gait. Also, these links provide some information about the difference between walking and running sneakers:
Somewhere in the world someone is training when you are not. When you race him, he will win.
