Hi run friends. Have a weird pain that would love some help figuring out. I’m in week 5 of a marathon training plan (not my first marathon, not my first training plan…have been a long-time runner), and all of the sudden have this super bizarre pain on the outside of my left foot. It isn’t my arch or the top of my foot, it’s just the outside, in between my toe and heel. It doesn’t hurt when I put hand pressure on it, it doesn’t hurt when I flex my ankle or wiggle my toes. But it does hurt after a while if I’m walking or bearing weight. I did steady recovery (10k-ish) runs last Thursday and Friday, a speed workout Saturday, a long run on Sunday, and a slooowww recovery 10k yesterday (none of this is abnormal or high mileage for me). All of those were mostly fine until right at the end of my run yesterday when it started bothering me. I didn’t step funny, hit anything, roll my foot. Nothing.
I feel like, in the past, with a stress fracture, it hurts to the touch. But nope, not this. And with tendonitis, it hurts with flexing and straining and wiggling. But nope, not this. It’s honestly only the first day of pain, and if it still keeps up will head to the doctor to make sure I’m not missing anything. But what, what, what, could this be?!?!?
